What is snoring ?

Snoring is a noise produced primarily with inspiratory respiration during sleep. Normally air passes through the throat to the lungs silently and unhindered. In snorers however, fatty tissue, tonsils and adenoids can narrow passageways owing to vibration of the soft palate and the pillars of the oropharyngeal inlet.

What worsens snoring ?

  • Being overweight.
  • Drinking alcohol prior to sleeping.
  • Smoking.
  • Taking sleeping pills, tranquillisers.

What are the consequences for snorers ?

  • Bad nights, abrupt wake up.
  • Waking up tired.
  • Day time fatigue.
  • Bad mood.

Snoring is not only disturbing for snorers but also to others – wife/husband, children – because of the noise.

Whereas snorers are not always aware they are suffering of this disorder, their partners are often irritated by regular night disturbance. Not treating snoring might, unfortunately, create tensions with your partner and lead to more serious health problems such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
